- The location of the opening sequence is set in a police station the reason why we can tell this is because of the sounding police officers wearing police uniform as well as the main protagonist. This therefore tells us that they are in a police station
- There is a badge in the opening scene what tells us that the protagonist is a officer. there is a cut-away to him receiving an award this could tell the audience that he will be a good police officer
- At the start of the opening sequence the lighting is dark to create a mysterious atmosphere. The clip gets lighter and lighter showing him through the years.
- In the beginning we hear the door open there is no music what gives a sense of mystery to the audience. This is diegetic as the character would have been able to hear the door open. The footsteps get louder and louder as the scene goes on, this brings tension to the film. The voice over suggest that the character is the protanist and he is narrating his experience as a police officer and tells the audience whats he's done and what he's achieved
